New York Post ^ | 06/25/13

The cast of “The Sopranos” is furious at Joe Gannascoli, who played gay gangster Vito Spatafore, for doing a series of glowing interviews about James Gandolfini — when in fact they were not close friends and hadn’t talked in years.

If they were “glowing interviews” (i.e. he said kind things about Gandolfini) why would any of them care?

Seems like a pretty petty complaint to me.

My impression is that they’re ticked that he’s exploiting Gandolfini’s death to promote himself.

Tony Sirico could arrange it.

If I’d even just had lunch once with Gandolfini five years ago I’d be boring everybody with my “reflections” on him. This seems a petty sort of complaint.

” Vito” claims that a jealous former cast member, who was upset how much attention his character received in the 6 th season, is behind these complaints.

Personally, that particular storyline was stupid, over done and deservedly was skipped over when I watched it again on HBO GO.

Such neighborhoods have much higher rates of homosexuality—especially among professionals—than other neighborhoods.

Seems like a pretty petty complaint to me.

In the article, Gannascoli admits that he had problems with other cast members, and that he was not close with James Gandolfini, so I don't see the problem. He's not misrepresenting himself in the interview.

The actor that played Vito's lover, "Johnnycakes", committed suicide shortly after leaving the show (don't remember his name.) I've wondered if accepting that role, and the gay love scenes he did with Vito, had anything to do with it.

I saw Joe Gannascoli in a diner a couple weeks ago while having breakfast (Merrimack, NH). He was very gracious to so many customers who asked to have their pic taken together. He seemed to be a very nice guy.
