Before long, most people now having good incomes will need new employers. I’ve been practicing austerity and building toward economic independence for a few years. This message was sent with home-installed photo-voltaic, solar-electric power from an old laptop with a free, open source UNIX-like system.
The elevation is well over 9,000 feet. I saw a low temperature of -39, F, last winter. Winter winds gust over 100 mph each winter, sometimes spraying several feet of ice from nearby peaks. High-tech employees come to the middle of nowhere to gaze around their lots, befuddled, and wander back to their cities.
I am a law-abiding low-tech. I’m honest about my taxes and pay the system dictates, but I don’t do much that would generate big revenues. I will start making some useful parts for others, though, when the unreasonable regulations and NIMBYs are gone.
I never apologize for anything stupid my kids say on the internet. That would imply I have something to do with what they are saying.
