I read an article several years ago where a man had been rejected for a job as a police officer because his IQ was too high.
The premise of the, “Your IQ is too high so we won’t hire you” is this; cop training is expensive and brainy guys get bored and quit soon, draining resources.
That’s what the high court said, anyway.
But the consensus among street cops is that that was artifice —that the real reason was AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.
Looks really bad if all the guys in the back of the squad are 1 or 2 races, and then the drivers on the other side of the cage are always 1 or 2 races.
After which Jay Leno's writers penned the little ditty
"Dumb cops, Dumb cops, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do with a low IQ?".
That is SOP for smaller venues. Small towns don’t want to hire someone who will stay just long enough to get job experience on his resumé.
I think that was Boston. They feared he would leave when he found out how boring the job was.
