Loathing for Monsanto is one thing conservatives and libs can agree on. Intrusion into our personal lives through use of technology is another.
There are plenty of morons, even here, supporting this private-government chimera of a company.
Soon, with enough cross-contamination, they will become a food monopoly which the government can then tap into.
Yeah, brilliant like a James Bond villain. Greenfinger.
Whenever one party in a lawsuit refuses to put something in writing saying that they will not do something, that is exactly what they intend to do.
When things get bad enough, the two sides will agree. Overreach, come to mama.
The organic farmers ought to be able to sue Monsanto if GM seeds get intermixed with their crops.
Just trust Monsanto. Yeh thats the ticket.
True liberals and conservatives are opposed to oligarchy. Neolibs, neocons and the assorted so-called "pragmatic" folks are the ones who inadvertently support oligarchy.
They're always crafting short-term solutions that appear to be reasonable compromises, but end up leading us down a path toward despotism.
Policies such as national school standards, welfare-to-work, social security, medicare, pro-active foreign policy, planned communities, public-private initiatives, etc.
All of these seemingly pragmatic programs ultimately lead to greater centralization and greater control by big government and big business.
The moderates, who are really just the apathetic, are just going along for the ride because most of us are still fortunate enough to be making a living.
Maybe the neolibs and neocons will craft a society which is merely annoying, but I'm not that optimistic.
I can imagine that Monsanto and a few other greedy mega-agricultural companies would like to have a monopoly on food production. The government would probably like that too. Food control = political control [Ask the Ukrainian kulaks. Oh, nevermind, they starved to death]. Therefore, heirloom seeds and those that produce or use them must be destroyed. These lawsuits are just the beginning.
I know, they keep making great products that people love to buy.
I should buy some stock!
