News accounts that a high-end Italian shotgun company executive was taken into custody at a Denver gun show after a cab driver tipped off authorities that he was transporting a suspected terrorist have crumbled under scrutiny, 9NEWS KUSA-TV reported yesterday evening. Also called into question is the credibility of a key source for the story.

If the story is a fake, that was a really stupid thing to do.
Not if the purpose was to denigrate those opposed to gun control.
It can happen. I almost fell for a hoax at the Shot Show.
I feel for David Codrea and Fox. They did quite a bit of due diligence. When you are working on a scoop, I think they went further than many would have. David Kopel and NRA Director Steve Schreiner are serious people, and they were taken in as well.
Now, think back to when the ATF started the 90% myth and the "Iron River of Guns" was picked up by HRC and the succeeding stories that suddenly came to an end with the murder of Agent Terry. This WH has a true master of the art of Strategic Communications...Denis McDonough.
