Chicago police said tonight that a 68-year-old woman's report that she was surrounded by a group of thugs and robbed of $135,000 in jewelry was not true.
Chicago Police have determined that the robbery is unfounded, according to a police News Affairs statement.
Detectives confronted the victim with inconsistencies between her account of the incident and recovered video, according to the statement. They learned that the story was not true, the statement read.

Yep I walk by that corner all the time. 4 cops some ex military just by the way they look are there all the time. All 200 lbs plus in shape keeping a sharp eye on the Amish youts. How do you pull a rip off in their line of sight? The story stunk.
Rahm couldn’t afford anymore youts raising havoc on that block. Bad press bad for tourism. Sacks 5th,Tiffany’s..Cartier, Ralph Laurens restaurant/ store all were complaining so put some bad asses on that beat to make sure.
Both the age of the *victim* and the value of the jewelry has gone down in subsequent reports.
Knowing women of this age who live in this area, it was doubtful any of them would wear anything of value while shopping in these stores.
