Single thread for both weekends!
Sounds good to me; thanks for the thread.
Whaddaya know, I start reading NASCAR new this morning and it’s a rule change for Danica Patrick and the All Star Race. Haven’t consumed enough coffee yet so I better keep quiet but I do want to know how Tubebender’s new puppy is doing.
Are you getting rain down yonder Norm? We got just a misting of it...
Yup, I’m a little slow on the draw.
Spotty showers ,, light stuff. Nice getting the dust knocked down
Getting old is a bitch but as long as you un-zip ‘fore you shoot it’s OK.
Did I tell you I turned 80 (eighty) yesterday...
No, didn’t know twas your Birthday. Happy Birthday! Last time I saw you you didn’t look a day over.....ah, Happy Birthday!
With age a lot of things droop and stay down. I’m wondering if zippers somehow know this and un-do themselves.
MIL fell at church on Sunday and broke her hip. We spent 7 hours at the hospital; Happy Mother’s Day! She had surgery Monday and went to a “skilled nursing facility” yesterday to rehab. Her sister, who lives with her and is 10 years older at 94, is as healthy as a horse. Go figure.
Dick Trickle apparently took his own life. Darn shame.
Richmond Rocker and SHS MotorSports will be at the All-Star race among others. Thanks for the thread.
I’m getting me a new Hambone Hat! Woo-Hoo!
Happy Birthday you old fart! You remind me of my Uncle in Everett. He is 85 and I cannot keep up with him. I am 49. Sheesh.
My daughter sent me a note on that. Very unfortunate, did he have persistant medical problems? Personally I find “old age” to be very satisfying.
Man that's awesome! God bless ya.
That is sad but it was his choice. Dick Trickle has completed has taken the Checkered Flag for the final time....
I’m only 64 but consider myself extremely blessed. Have a loving family, financial stable and enough air to breathe, water to drink and food to eat. The aches and pains I experience are the results of crazy younger day stunts like slogged through rice paddies in a foreign land. I’ve learned from where I’ve been and certainly know where I’m going. It’s a fun road trip and I’m enjoying every day. Speeding tickets and all.
Thanks for the links. Looks like I need to visit Fox more...
Does everybody know about this website?
(consolidates all the tv racing on one page)
Bend’s annual Pole, Peddle, Paddle is today. They had 800 teams competing last year. Looking at all the skiing, running, biking, sprinting and canoeing involved makes me tired.
I’ve walked out to the mailbox 3 days in a row!!!
The Sprint All Star Race is on. $2,000,000.00 race. No points just money!
The latest update on my new S6 is that it will arrive at the Port of Houston Monday. When I ordered it about 3 months ago it was the last of 5 on the listed production schedule destined for Colorado at the time and the only one that could have the color and options selected.
Last years S6 version had the 5.2L V10 engine based on the Lamborghini V10 and it had more HP at 435, but a narrow peak torque band of 398 lb-ft from 5000 to 6000 RPM. The new V8 twin turbo has 420 HP and is much faster with peak torque of 406 lb-ft from 1400 to 5200 RPM. The 0-60 time is improved from 4.5 sec to 3.7 sec. Imagine the speeding ticket I could get with that! The speed limiter is set at 155, but Audi says it would have a top speed of around 190 without the limiter. If I got a speeding ticket for 190 MPH do you think they would let me frame it for after I got out of jail?
They did a dealer trade for my 2012 Silverado...
I don’t think there were any S6 models for sale in Colorado at the time. I wanted a S5 model, but there were none of them either. I test drove a S4 and A6. I liked the S4, but my wife liked the bigger A6. The salesmans personal car was a S6 so I test drove it. We compromised on the S6 with a long wait to get it. I have seen many dealers in the US charging from $20K to $30K over MSRP for an in-stock S6. Don’t know which of the limited number of options these cars had, but it seems you will pay a premium price for an in-stock car.
It sounds very impressive and I can’t wait to see some photos. Haven’t had the 335i out as the weather has turned crappy this last week. Our local BMW dealer (carries Audi, Porsche & VW too) is very active in the racing world and rents out a track and provides instruction, if you want it, and lets you run with others in your class. It’s apparently very controlled - you’re not racing on another - but you do get to run as fast as you want. Speaking of framing tickets since when did they start printing out tickets the computer in a patrol car instead of hand-writing them? I didn’t think I retired that long ago.
Dang it. B-17 will be at the Bend airport on Tuesday but we will be in Eugene all week.
24 degrees this morning.
Need a laugh for the day...http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3022107/posts
Ya, I read that article. Funny time for cost cutting with the economic recovery and all. Looking fwd to a quiet weekend; raining cats and dogs here in Eugene; Bend has snow showers in the forecast for tonight. Have only planted peas in the garden - no annuals yet.
Windy, rainy and cold today but We’ll be digging potatoes and garlic in another month.
Nascarnation found a nifty site:TV Racer.com
Has mtnclimber's car arrived?
And will the plows have Trail Ridge Road open in time for the Memorial Day weekend:
Great pic, wow....
Last full week of May coming up, and the mountains are white as can be. The runoff should be pretty epic this year... if it stops snowing.
Do they plow snow with a CAT D9?
Al Gore’s fault!
Oh, here is a really cool pic:
Makes sense. You gotta heave that stuff out of the way, too much to plow.
I can’t find the picture or story, but several years ago, they had so much snow, even those plows were struggling, getting stuck and clogged up.
Looks like a whole lot of Gorebel Warming going on there,,,
The Class of 2014.
We were flying in Sunday from a little vacation. The view of the white capped mountains was breathtaking. May 19. And it seemed that the radar showed it was snowing over the mtns that evening or Monday, can’t remember.
I sure wish JR would put in a LIKE BUTTON like FaceBook
You may have more snow on the way. Bend Oregon is forecast to get 1-4” of snow tonight; mtn passes got 5” the night before and this system is headed your way.
There is a discussion going on in our household about whether to watch the race or go to the opening concert of the season scheduled at our local amphitheater. “Sigur Ros” will be playing Sunday evening; there is a good chance of rain and temps will be in the 50’s for the show. I wanna stay home. Wife wants to go to the concert. This has not been a good year for watching NASCAR events on TV.
The MC car arrived in the Port of Houston on May 20, was on a truck May 21. Don’t think it is in Denver yet. There are a few days of dealer prep and that just depends on how many cars are in the que ahead of it. The salesman called me on my cell phone Thursday and updated me. He said that even f it was in I would not be able to pick it up yet because of dealer prep. I told him that even if it was ready I could not pick it up because I was in Florida. He seemed to panic a bit before I told him it was just a business trip and I was driving to the Orlando Airport to catch a flight back to Denver. But the business trip was so busy I did not get my picks changed for the race. I would have picked Kurt Bush for one of the slots.
I happen to be free at the moment and will gladly pick up your vehicle for you. I’ll even put some gas in it.
