I am totally stunned, I didn’t expect this at all.
Whether or not you are a United fan, the man is an absolute legend.
Everton fans are not, many expect Moyes to replace him.
Not Maurinhjo?
In before the “soccer is boring” crowd. Spare us, please.
Greatest coach of any sport, ever?
Speculation is that Mourinho is returning to Chelsea, and frankly he’s lost a lot of luster at Real Madrid.
That’s a tall order, and it’s difficult to compare across different sports. I’d say he’s a standout in soccer and leave it at that.
On the other hand, what’s left to accomplish? Go out on top, and know that you’ll live in legend forever.
Interesting though that Ferguson announces it the week that City is preparing for the FA Cup Final, just to get one final jab in at them.....now nobody will be talking about the FA Cup Final.
There’s not one word in that excerpt that makes an iota of sense to me.
John Wooden, Red Auerbach, Phil Jackson, Casey Stengel, Vince Lombardi, Geno Auriemma, Jose Mourinho, Bud Wilkinson, Toe Blake, Mike Krzyzewski, Pat Summitt, Scotty Bowman, to name a few.

Old Trafford is Man United's home field (or pitch). Think of it as Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park.... The Premier League is the top level of professional soccer in England, akin to Major League Baseball. There are lower levels of competition, much like Triple AAA bball and on down.
Along with 13 league titles, Ferguson also guided United to two European Cups, five FA Cups and four League Cup triumphs.
The European Cup is a yearly tournament, by qualification, of each of the top professional teams across all the European national leagues. The FA Cup is the English national tournament, open to all English pro teams.

Man United plays West Bromwich in the season-ender May 19 (Man United has already been knocked out of the European Cup and FA Cup this year).
Easy huh?
Did he ever coach the English national team?
And what in the wide, wide world of sports is up with Real Madrid? That’s damn near a new coach every year....
No and I doubt that he ever would manage England, being that he is a proud Scot.
He was interim manager of the Scottish national team from 1985 to 1986 following the death of the legendary former Celtic manager Jock Stein.
Almost now looks certain that he will be replaced with another Scot, David Moyes.
If Mourinho is available and hasn’t already committed to return to Chelsea, Moyes would be a mistake of Biblical proportions.
Manchester United is the biggest sports money pump on the planet. Today’s story about SAF is world news. The list of managers who can successfully step into that kind of pressure pit is very short and David Moyes, good as he is, is not on that list.
