Many times I’ve seen my housecat try to bait me, acting like he only wants to lick his paw, or scratch or like he’s focused in some other direction. I’ve seen him do it with birds too.
Cagey animals. They try to put you at rest as if they are focused on some other endeavor, then pounce without warning.
Who says cats are dumb?
