Im not a PSU grad, tho my wife has a degree from there and I have other connections. I certainly didnt feel that I knew all about everything, but I was impressed with Franco Harris presentation and think its probably for the best that he succeeded. But would it have been too much trouble for the writer of this piece to say exactly how many trustees there are on the board??? I get that three seats on the board were being contested - but is it a three-seat board, or are there more incumbents who will be up for reelection later??? Does three seats amount to control??
It’s complicated.
5 Ex-Officio members (now only 3 who can vote)
9 elected alumni members
6 Governor appointees
6 Business & Industry - elected by B.O.T. executive council
6 Agriculture appointees
Alumni only get to elect 3 members every year to a 3 year term. The rest are untouchable.
Franco specifically hit on this: Penn State (as a University) is now contesting Victim 6’s civil suit claims that they were in any way liable for any of js’s actions. They cite that there is no proof that anyone at Penn State acted in an effort to cover anything up or not report anything that needed reported.
This is pretty much true (imo). The problem is that if this is true, then why was Joe Paterno fired? Why was louis free’s work of fiction accepted as gospel when it came to the NCAA? Why didn’t the University defend itself against the rotten media accounts of this story?
They didn’t defend anyone or anything - they just followed the media’s lead - UNTIL it is going to cost them money. Which is another joke because they’ve (the b.o.t. and the administration) already signed on for over $100 million in damages and penalties.
John Ziegler (with zero ties to Penn State) literally knows more about this case than anyone because he hates the media and knows what they’re capable of. His website at framingpaterno.com is a tireless effort and his movie really can’t be refuted by anyone with any knowledge of the case.
