In an interview with AlterNet this past week, Americas most well-known left-wing intellectual slammed President Obama for his inexplicable attacks on civil liberties in the forms of various laws expanding upon the executive powers set forth by President George W. Bush.
Speaking with the liberal blogs Mike Stivers, Chomsky expressed dissatisfaction with the current presidents record on civil liberties: I personally never expected anything of Obama, and wrote about it before the 2008 primaries. I thought it was smoke and mirrors. The one thing that did surprise me is his attack on civil liberties. They go well beyond anything I would have anticipated, and they dont seem easy to explain.
For an example of Obamas civil liberties abuses, Chomsky cited Holder vs. Humanitarian Law Project, in which the administration petitioned the Supreme Court to put an end to legal groups giving any material assistance including advice to turn nonviolent to terrorist organizations.

Imagined by whom? I’ve known since I heard of him the Obama is a worthless, criminal socialist. How could anyone miss that?
Laughable...
One of my most fervent hopes is that I run into Chomsky in public. I’ll plead “no contest” to the charges and serve whatever sentence I am given with a smile.
Chumpsky Ping.
“Ill plead no contest to the charges and serve whatever sentence I am given with a smile.”
You’d end up with a legal defense fund that you could retire on.
An idiot, but with weight in the Left.
GOOD! Another crack appears and it’s a communist sized one.
So before it was just crazy right wingers who hated black people.
Now it’s “OH MY GOD, HE REALLY IS NUTS!”
Obama was CLEAR about his intent.
Chomsky is a linguist.
It was obvious.
“If we choose, we can live in a world of comforting illusion.” (memorable Noam Chomsky quote)
Welcome to reality Noam
It helps a lot when 50% of the population care more about the government taking care of them from cradle to grave than they do about liberty and freedom. I’d be willing to bet a dollar to a donut that 75% of the morons on our college campuses would tell you that liberty and freedom are “overrated”.
Not too cunning though.
Really, Choomsky..
And Chomsky is one of the biggest commie around!
Chomsky can at times articulate the issues quite well but usually provides no practical answers of his own. If he supports Rand Paul as a superior version of Ron, I’ll be right there with him !
But not, apparently, a cunning linguist...
But is he fluent in Austrian or Ebonics.....?
