NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Glen Campbells Alzheimers disease has progressed too far to allow him to continue touring.
Instead, hell spend his 77th birthday on Monday in Washington as an advocate for Alzheimers research. The trip includes a fundraising dinner for the Alzheimer's Association and a session on Capitol Hill, where hell visit the Senate.
Alzheimers has robbed Mr. Campbell of many of his best memories, gained over a lifetime as an entertainment icon who was a pop star, a groundbreaking session musician, an actor and TV variety show host. But it hasnt taken everything.

Not sure I like them messing with those songs, but the more Glen the better. I follow his beautiful, talented daughter Ashley on twitter. She's a great banjo player that just moved to Nashville.
I remember on Easter (when she was still in LA), she tweeted simply: "Hey guys...Alzheimer's really sucks. :(" You could tell they were having a tough time. She's right. It does really suck.

Wichita Lineman and Galveston (even though he wasn’t the first to sing that) are classic songs that tell great stories....

Back in 1969, my girlfriend, who loved Glen Campbell, (he was of the same religion [Campbellite] as she was) dropped me like a hot rock when I criticized his acting in TRUE GRIT.

Oh for crin-out-loud can ya cut the guy a break? Do you have any loved ones with Alz? How about the fact he cleaned up his life and if I remember correct try to find the Lord? Are we not all less than perfect?
This is how I prefer to remember him...

Not a perfect person, but a gifted entertainer who, for the most part, knew he should just shut up and sing. Some great songs will be his legacy, rather than a bunch of half-assed political nonsense.

That’s a cheap shot. The guy is suffering now from Alzheimer’s... you can’t cut him a break, huh?

I wonder if he remembers stealing Mack Daviss wife. Right... he "stole" her... as if she went unwillingly.

Thanks, that’s a great video of a wonderful song.
The post was intended to draw a parallel between his “By the Time I get to Phoenix and the time he went to the Phoenix Jail.
