The American Housing Survey (AHS)[1] is a statistical survey funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. It is the largest regular national housing sample survey in the United States and contains information on the number and characteristics of U.S. housing units as well as the households that occupy those units.
As I look at the Federal Register for the 2013 American Housing Survey, I see the magic words: Respondent's Obligation: Voluntary.
I suggest you toss it.
“Do what I did- throw it in the garbage.”
Thats my advice. You are not required to fill out anything for the govt or speak to one of their agents except every 10 years when the census comes out.
I forgot. If the survey taker knocks on your door just tell her “What difference does it make?”
Several years ago I received one of those.
I shredded it.
Also, when I received the last Census I only filled out the Constitutionally required questions at the beginning of the form. Have never heard from the SOB’s.
Voluntary, eh? Priceless, thank you.
I’ve never personally heard of a census from that you did not mail back.
But I have heard of scams where a official looking form is distributed. Maybe you have one of those?
it says it takes 45 minutes to complete. (and they ain’t paying you to do it.)
I just filled in random circles an mailed it. I don’t have time to look up all the records for the answers they want.
from what I read in their literature, it’s to help Uncle Scam determine how to dole out the free cheese.
