Developers already offer Windows 8 shells to get rid of the interface.
That is a waste of time and a waste of money and effort. There is no need for any of it. Even my non-techie wife is very comfortable with the Start screen, but she still uses the traditional desktop under Windows 8. It took me no more than 2 minutes to show her how to use the Start screen, and she actually found it a lot more useful than the old menu driving Start button in Windows 7.
