No, I mean the Facebook thing. Same thing with camera photos.

What happened overseas stayed overseas.

The 19th-century sailors who had a wife in every port never had to face this issue.

But the wives who had a husband on every ship had to study the shipping tables very closely.

No sane woman would want more than one husband. Nor would any sane man want more than one wife.

Come now. What woman would ever want more than one husband?

One husband is completely capable of scratching his butt or farting at an inappropriate time...

Facebook’s facial recognition at work again.

"Honey, I swear, I never knew I had a twin!" That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Looks like there's more to the story than that. The guy "separated" from his earlier wife eight years ago, and changed his name, married another wife (I refrain from characterizing them as "first" and "second") and then "friends" his earlier but not ex-wife on facebook, under his old name? Didn't he think he was hiding out from her? Did she think he changed his name in order to become a Trappist?

While at a wedding once I asked the preacher “Why did preachers used to say ‘if there is anyone here who knows any reason why this man and woman should not be married speak now or forever hold his peace’” I was told it was for reasons of multiple wives. The preacher said it is not used anymore because that can be found out with out asking.

Well...Reverend...maybe you better ask as in the old days It would be a good idea to bring back. At one wedding I was at, half the people in the audience would have raised their hands with objections if asked.

Not only did they get divorced, but the guy ended up in prison.

Hah...when I was in the USN, our carrier was leaving pier 12, and a sailor jumped off the ship into the water as the ship was getting underway.

The story was later circulated that he saw his wife on the dock with some guy, ostentatiously making kissy face just to piss him off!

You could always find temporarily divorced women at the Chiefs club, depending on what ships were out or what squadron was deployed.

Gad, what a life.

Hooking up with some Chief’s wife sounds like a recipe for disaster to me...:)

What could go wrong?

The Catholic Church used to publish “bans” in the weekly bulletin for six weeks before a wedding, though the nuns told us that that could be waived in an emergency, like a soldier being sent overseas. (Their must have been a lot of soldiers going overseas in our parish, and remarkably all their wives conceived during their short honeymoons and had abbreviated pregnancies, resulting in healthy babies. Like Kepler’s parents.)

Or better yet, "OMG! I've been cloned!"

Though a crafty sailor might avoid that problem by only “marrying” women with the same first name.

Or by using the same "pet" name for all of them!

Blessed be God! (BTW, the word is "banns").

>>>Under the liberal game plan, this is all “A-OK”...as long as the consenting adults “love each other.”<<<

But at the same time how many “conservatives” have been caught with mistresses and how many Republicans have gone so far as to have families with their mistresses? Arnold Schwarzennegger anyone?

Seems that it’s perfectly fine if a man has a family with his wife and a family with his mistress just so long as he doesn’t take responsibility for the mistress and her children.

That’s the big lie in this society is that a man can have a mistress and even have children with her and that’s socially acceptable. Or a liberal like Charlie Sheen or Hugh Hefner can live openly with multiple women and be celebrated in the media for doing it. But let a man commit to multiple women and then attempt to do right by them and THAT’S WRONG? That’s where we draw the line?

And then it’s perfectly fine for conservatives like Newt Gingrich to engage in serial monogamy which, according to the Bible, is nothing but polygamy.

In this case the man is wrong for not telling his wives about what was going on...but why would it be even worse if they were okay with it?

And please ping me when Charlie Sheen or Hugh Hefner finally gets prosecuted for polygamy.

(-;
