There are a few voices who make precisely this claim. Rush, Mark and Anne come to mind. The difficulty with speaking truth to power is the violent reaction to truth by the accused. Of course this proves the validity of the accusation. It never the less takes a gutsy constitution to spit in the devil’s eye.
I agree whole heartedly. Referring to any leftist as an extremist is fair and honest. It requires, however, an absolute indifference to building friendships with leftists.
We must stop trying to be the nice kids in the school yard and stand up to the bullies. They will scream and holler and make outrageous accusations. They already do. That is their power.
When we are no longer intimidated by their lies and threats we will have victory over their evil in our hands.
Angry as it makes me, as well, I think this could be starting to backfire in terms of credibility. Of course, there’s a massive mountain of disinformation to climb.
Finally Free Republic is realizing its potential to hammer some 21st century media smarts into conservatism. We dang well better learn how act in front of a camera, study the left’s use of “guerilla theater”, encourage our kids to enter media professions, understand the history and effect of “the Frankfurt School”, show their PC newspeak to be laughable, make the left perceived as the ignorant, superstitious peasantry that it is, understand the intertwining dynamics of trotskyism and New Age metaphysics as nothing more than a dumbing down process, an exercise in cultural stupefaction.
We either make ourselves smarter, each one of us or we die. It’s that simple. If you think we’re smart enough already, then why are 90% of all media outlets agents of leftist influence? Free Republic needs to become the University of Free Republic. Read, g*ddammit, and then read some more. Then run for local office. It’s that simple.
