Every dog killing *would* be Mohammed approved, were he still around.

We need a “Mohammed approved” graphic.

5000 dogs per state a year, on average.

13 per state, a day, on average.

A funny poster that is all too true and hence all too sad

In desperate need of a law that makes it a felony to shoot a dog without reason (law enforcement officers included - maybe especially!). The problem of course is how to pursue that in court. We really need laws against this kind of action along with action against wrongful entry into households. When this will happen, probably never.

This is part of the government’s domain and they will not relinquish responsibility to themselves for errors. This can only be accomplished by an uprising against this kind of abuse. Good luck with that!!

I am a boring law abiding person but I promise you, no cop will ever search my vehicle or home without a warrant. Over zealous police officers simply can not be trusted, and if they make a mistake they are much more likely to lie and falsely accuse you (or your pet) rather than admit they made a mistake.

“The rottweiler is outnumbered and helpless.”

But oh-so soft, warm, furry and comfy.

That’s 685 dogs per day, average or almost 14 dogs per state, daily.

pETA must love those numbers.

I have a modest proposal. Since good public workers do such good work rounding up stray cats and dogs that overpopulate animal control shelters and take up undo resources of water and rations, why not put these unwanted creatures to good use? How many of them end up in chambers to be gassed with carbon monoxide? This represents such a imprudent mismanagement of resources. Law enforcement offers need therapy just like everyone else; especially when there is that hidden sadistic desire aggravated by a DNA component that creates murderous brain chemistry. Because of the psychic realities of the law enforcement culture, let’s use these surplus animals for the enjoyment and therapy for trigger happy law enforcement officers. It is my modest proposal, for the furtherment of mental stability, accurate fire arms control and performance under stress that these surplus animals be used as the preferred use of targets in a gun range.

Target practice ranges can be minimally set up with adequate fencing for animal containment and disposal. Target animals would be released into the range to mimic a fleeing criminal in a real world situation, thus satisfying the sadistic desire to kill a pet or a real human being. Those needing more time on the range to get their mental condition right, would always have an adequate supply of targets to vent their mental needs in a safe way.

“Pit bull” is the canine equivalent of “assault weapon”.

Any more I fear commenting on these kinds of stories.
If I’m negative I fear the gestapo storm troopers will come shoot my dog or take away any gun I may have.
Suffice it to say just F-em.

Exactly. The police and the media are counting on the same public reaction too many people have when they hear the phrase “assault weapon”.

Trust me, NOBODY is a bigger fanatic about this issue than I am. But that figure is absurd. I hope it doesn’t detract from what should be a very serious issue.

Seems everyone has a bogus stat out there. Cat haters say cats kill 50 zillion birds a year. Some groups spread the BS that there’s 200,000 child sex slaves in the US (and if you don’t believe it, you must be a pedophile!). You name the cause, and there’s a bogus stat.

Every cause has it's zealots, and for zelots the end justifies the means. It doesn't matter if it's true, as long as it makes you belive in the cause.

Do you have a source for stats you believe to be more realistic or feasible?

I remember Radley Balko writing that it's hard to guess how many dogs are killed by cops because police don't keep track or cover it up. People who sue have subpoenaed to get the info and usually hit a wall.

I do remember reading that there were hundreds killed in Chicago one year. That's horrific. But it still doesn't extrapolate to 250,000 nationwide.
