Exactly how much did that bit of complete stupidity cost the RR and surrounding community?

When trains at speed have to stop it involves major repair expense.

I don’t think I would have stopped for a dog. A person yes.

The lord works in mysterious ways. In this case, using man’s best friend, he has revealed a demon that walks among us. The train engineer was weighed and measured and found not wanting. what happens to the demon is now up to the California judicial system.

Not only that but there are trains scheduled behind that train. An unexpected stop backs those up. But to tie that dog to the tracks because he didn’t know what to do with it????? Has to be a PETA member.

I’m afraid I’m with you. I wouldn’t have stopped for the dog. It is a great story and makes you feel good that somebody values life that much, but the sad fact is that millions of dogs, cats, rabbits and other pets are being put down annually in this depression. As a symbol, it is a nice act. As far as making a dent in the millions of dogs & cats being put down in shelters around the USA, never mind Europe & the rest of the world — it is absolute zero.

Call me heartless but with all the deer and cattle that get hit by trains, I can’t get excited about one more dog. The condition of the 78 year old that would tie a dog to tracks — now that concerns me.

Well, the allegedly senile guy who tied the dog to the tracks, was apparently doing so as the train was approaching. Otherwise, the engineer might not have even seen what was going on.

Maybe you can cut the engineer some slack, since hindsight is 20/20, maybe he didn't know the crazy dude wasn't going to jump in front of him as he got closer. So maybe he was really stopping for the person.

Does that make it any better for you?
