Heard this on the radio this morning, almost drove off the road because of the tears. At least there is a happy ending.

Wonder if he’s a former or current PETA member.

Very pleased this had a happy ending, but damn... there are some evil “people” out there.

Should have dropped him off at an abortion clinic. They’d kill him in a second . . . you know . . . snip his spine

Authorities tracked down the 78-year-old owner who told agents his family 'didn't want the dog' and he 'didn't know what to do with him.'

So they tied him to the tracks in hopes he'd be killed. Good God...

Union Pacific railroad engineer brought his train to a screeching halt as the locomotive came roaring toward the 10-month old terrier mix Banjo

? To do so he could not have been moving at more than 5 MPH.

"Screeching halt" and "roaring" indeed.

Didn't know what to do, hmmm. So they strapped the little guy to the train tracks. They don't by chance have any children?

Too bad there isn't some network where you could search for better solutions than strapping the dog to the train tracks, was it Snidely Whiplash?

‘didn’t want the dog’ and he ‘didn’t know what to do with him.’

So the only thing this AHOLE could think of to do was this? I call BS.

I’m not a big dog fan (see tagline), but this just goes beyond the pale...the language required to adequately describe this ‘person’ would get me banned post-haste. Craig’s List is free, for pity’s sake...or perhaps a ‘no-kill’ shelter? There is so much evil running loose in this country now we are going to have to come up with another word to replace ‘evil’, since it is getting watered down by repetition...

Psychotic people who do these kinds of things to innocent animals are about one step away from doing them to humans too if they haven’t already crossed that line long ago.

Being old & living longer does not make you smarter, unfortunately!!

What a cute little one Banjo is. Someone will want him & love him.

So glad the pup was rescued...so sad that his owner decided to kill him instead of offer him to a new owner.

Killing unborn babies, helping elderly to commit suicide, applauding unhealthy sexual lifestyles as “normal,” redefining marriage to meet modern convenience, worshipping false gods, and the lack of morals, humanity, obedience to God: we are just like folks were in the days of Noah. God already sent us a Savior so those who have ears to hear and eyes to see if they have a willing heart will hear/see and obey. Others will continue to be deaf, blind and dumb/numb to His call. There is a lot of work for us Christians to do to work against these evils until Jesus comes again...

Stories like this make me lose faith in humanity.

I have two rescue dogs that I hug every morning before I leave for work. One was found in a gutter, the other was given to me because he was unwanted.

Those who do this kind of thing are feeling and uncaring. They would do the same to a human, I think.

Banjo is assured of adoption. For thousands of shelter animals the outlook is not so bright. If you can, visit a shelter, save a life and leave with your new best friend.

Awful! If anyone in the Chicago area does not know what to do with an unwanted pet, please contact PAWS http://www.pawschicago.org/, a no-kill shelter.

I'll bet one of the sociopathic grandkids did it and the old man is covering for him...
