I think the article's concluding question needs a tweak:
Are you willing to die trying to take my guns?
If they come to get your guns, odds are very good you will die.
The important thing is to kill and/or seriously disable enough of them that the survivors pause to reflect afterwards “Is this really worth it?”.
They cannot win a war of attrition.
