Investigator claims NCAA didn't impose sanctions against Penn State
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | 4-3-13 | Mark Dent

The Nevin Shapiro-Miami-NCAA controversy has created a new storyline in the NCAA sanctions of Penn State, with a fired NCAA investigator proclaiming the NCAA didn't impose anything against the university and that Penn State president Rodney Erickson "sold the school down the river."

Earlier today, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel posted information about several emails between former NCAA investigator Ameen Najjar and Shapiro included in the bankruptcy case of Shapiro, the man imprisoned for a Ponzi scheme and charged by the NCAA with providing illicit benefits to University of Miami athletes. Amongst details about the NCAA's investigation of Shapiro was one note about Penn State. Here's what Najjar, the former investigator, wrote to Shapiro on August 7, 2012, according to the documents obtained by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel:

"The Penn State deal is a travesty," he wrote. "The NCAA did not impose anything. Penn State agreed to and self-imposed the penalties, waved all due process and waived any right to appeal. The NCAA had/has NO authority to impose any penalties in that situation and PSU's president sold the school down the river!"

Getting closer to the truth. Look for the second mile to be in the news soon.

NCAA should have stayed out of the Penn State scandal. While it was a scandal, it had nothing to do with the relationship between the NCAA and Penn State.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Emmert is forced out when the truth comes out.

the ncaa is a scam in itself......the head of Pac12 BB refs "joked" about paying the other refs to give a technical to a certain coach, and he alluded to big money and a trip to Cancun, and the Pas 12 is letting him stay on....

they protect their rich schools and they protect their referees no matter what....

This surprises you Lancey? Me? Not at all. I assumed all along that we wrote the sanctions. What I want to know is why.

This surprises you Lancey?

A little.
I figured the University was ready, willing, and able to bend over and take whatever spanking anybody wanted to administer. I just didn't figure on the slobbering cowards flogging themselves as they begged for forgiveness with tears streaming down their ass cheeks.

"Thank you sir may I have another?"

What I want to know is why.

My guess is they wanted to do anything they could to make the NCAA, and anybody else who might get too curious, go away as quickly as possible. There is obviously a lot more to this homosexual pedophilia scandal at Penn State than meets the eye. Maybe some of the board members liked little boys, too. And Spanier... Wow, what a freaking creep. NOTHING would surprise me when it comes to that guy. He was going to make Penn State "the most gay-friendly campus in the nation", wasn't he?

'Second Mile' was (is still??) clearly a farm for the Penn State homosexual pedophile community. I hope somebody with integrity is digging deep into that sick abomination.

Whoa — so then what does this mean for the Governor’s lawsuit against the NCAA?

Is that lawsuit just a sham to cover the BoT’s trail???

ESPN had reported that the NCAA threatened Penn State with four years of the "death penalty" for the football team. Ed Ray, chair of the NCAA executive committee, told ESPN last summer the NCAA didn't threaten anything.

Throughout all of this, Penn State President Rodney Erickson has been consistent in his account. Faced with the very real threat of the "death penalty," as expressly acknowledged by the NCAA in the consent decree, he was left with no choice but to sign the consent decree.

So who typed out the Consent Decree??? Maybe the Board could hire Louie Freeh to flush that out for us.

Disagree on Spanier. While I’m certainly not a big fan of his, he’s more competent than this.

If he was part of some sort of cover up, he wound up on the wrong side of it. Erickson, Surma, Peetz, Broadhurst, and more - including Corbett. I want to know what their connections to the second mile were.

Rumors are that a cop is talking and saying he was told to stay away from the second mile and focus only on PSU.

BTW - for anyone wanting to know the actual facts of this case, this presentation by Ray Blehar tells it like it is. The timeline is particularly stunning in the way it was misrepresented by the AG, freeh, and the media.

I think you can also add that Schultz and Courtney reported 2001 to CYS. That was Schultz and Curley’s testimony and no one refuted it. As Blehar says, that burden falls on the state to prove that they didn’t report since the records would have been expunged.

This comes from Blehar’s website. He should update it and keep it front and center and see what he can do to correct the erroneous Wikipedia information regarding this.

Anybody can register as a Wiki editor - - in fact, I have done some editing on a few (music / television) entries that needed additions or corrections.
