Martin Scorcese said that when he first watched “The Robe” as a kid, the theater curtains kept getting wider and wider and wider which made a big impression on him. Also of note in the robe is despite the fact that Richard Burton was the main character, Jay Robinson as Caligula, STOLE the movie from him. Robinson’s very voice dripped with contempt.
Love the scene at the end when Jay Robinson’s Caligula keeps shouting “they’re going into another kingdom!”
