Henry Koster, who directed THE ROBE, was also responsible for a number of other excellent Christian-themed pictures including THE BISHOP’S WIFE (the first version, with Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young), and A MAN CALLED PETER. He was Fox’s go-to guy for Cinemascope religious epics as well as family comedies like MR. HOBBS TAKES A VACATION. A very underrated filmmaker in my opinion.

I saw “A Man Called Peter” only a few months ago on DVD. It was just as good as I remembered. It also included an audio of one of his sermons.

He really was a great preacher and the Scottish lilt to his voice added to it.

There was a sequel to “The Robe” called “Demetrius and the Gladiators” which I also liked.
