A few years ago, I read The Big Fisherman (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1948), Lloyd C. Douglas's follow-up to The Robe, which is about Peter the apostle. However, I was disappointed that the story differed considerably from the historical as well as the biblical account.

The Big Fisherman was also made into a movie, which made a brief appearance in the theaters in 1959, but it wasn't a hit. Although I saw previews of it, I never saw it in the theater, and I'm glad I didn't because it isn't very good, as I found out by watching it on DVD.

You saw “The Big Fisherman” on DVD? I thought it’s never been released on home video.

TCM will be airing it in May-
