Your choice of words, though insulting, are apt. Having had dogs in heat, we locked them up as it was the right thing to do if you didn’t want puppies. But the analogy ends there.

Human children aren’t simple or easy. They have wills of their own and, like all God’s children, despite being taught the way they should go, make mistakes, some very serious. I’d give one another the benefit of the doubt.

It’s only a liberal that wants everybody to live like they do. Conservatives think, debate and tolerate differing views arrived at through reason and, in this particular case, love.

They're her children and she certainly has the right to give them hormonal contraception if she wants to. I am not about to impose my own parenting and religious beliefs upon her or anyone. Perhaps I could have worded my statement more politely but I was hoping the shock value of my words might help her rethink her actions. Apparently I was wrong. My only point is that I'd rather treat my teenage children like sentient human beings with free wills and if that means a child would result from their bad decisions, so be it. A new child is always a gift from God no matter the circumstances surrounding his or her conception.
