I can only speculate that they are so totally self absorbed and so totally imbued with a sense of entitlement and victimhood that no one else even registers in their thought process. You can't reason with them, and you can't rehabilitate them. The only thing you can to is kill them when they commit horrific crimes like this one and hope that the example of getting put to death for something like this might cause one of the other human cockroaches to moderate its behavior.
