Nothing to do with stripping. It’s a strip of land with:

The orig Primanti Bros sandwich shop is there. I noticed people selling what were probably bootleg CDs...T shirt shops etc.

Back in the day, the Strip District was a great place to go clubbing, until the Amish moved in. Hasn’t been the same since Donzi’s closed. Now the action has moved back to the South Side.
