Probably a meteor coming straight at you or an airplane in the distance coming at you and turned off his landing lights.
Had a small plane do that to me, thought I was seeing a UFO or something, then he banked and I saw the running lights.
I did see a UFO once years ago that I still can't explain, don't tell anybody :)
