“I doubt you could call the turn of the century modern bodybuilding.”


Without Sandow, could we have had Joe Weider? I’ve heard Sandow called the Father of modern bodybuilding on many occasions, by body builders themselves, and articles on the subject. Yes, it’s more than a hundred years old, but his system and work led to what we have today.

I agree with what you’re saying about him being the father of bodybuilding, but most people I know consider the 60’s the modern bodybuilding era. Guys like Reg Park, Dave Draper, Larry Scott, etc. We’re arguing over the minutia though. Everyone I know talks of how important Eugene Sandow was.
