I remember some years ago, an Air Force Academy (at least I think it was) athlete was struck by a javelin right in the heart. Somehow he survived.
Yep... as I recall that was sometime during my smack year (started in 1969). Someone else had just thrown the javelin and it was sticking out of the ground about chest high. He ran right into it.
