Christ had made it well known through his ministry that he would be raised on the third day after his death. The Pharisees certainly knew of this claim, hence the Roman guard at the tomb. The Jewish leaders simply had to wait three days (maybe four for good measure), open the guarded tomb and reveal that Jesus was still there (and just a little bit ripe). “The Way” would have collapsed immediately and the Pharisees would have been done with all this messiah trouble once and for all.
But history doesn’t record it that way....
I like to think I’m an American Judeo-Christian. I believe in only One God, no Satan, and no divinity in Man beyond The Father’s allowance of the human mind to abstract information from its environment.
However, I believe that Jesus was mashiach in the sense that America could not have been founded, and will not be able to continue, without his influence.
