Robert Iselin Jr., was shot once in the chest by Lucas Brickweg during a hunting trip in Greenwood County, S.C. Witnesses have said the shooting was an accident.
Robert Iselin Jr., 51, of Jacksonville, Fla., was shot to death in South Carolina by fellow hunter Lucas Brickweg of Satellite Beach, Fla., who mistook him for a wild boar.
A hunter was mistakenly shot dead by his friend who confused him with a wild boar, police have said.
Robert Iselin Jr., 51, was gunned down by 25-year-old Lucas Brickweg during a hunting trip in Greenwood County, S.C., at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
Iselin, from Jacksonville, Fla., had separated from his group after going into the wooded area near the town of Ninety Six.
The incident happened on a huning trip while the two men, and others, were hunting wild boar in Greenwood County, S.C.
Brickweg, some distance away, was climbing into a hunting stand when he heard some rustling.
Firing a single shot, he thought he'd taken out a wild boar.
But, on going to inspect the animal, he was shocked to find he'd struck his fellow hunter in the chest.
Lucas Brickweg, 25, has been charged with criminal use of a firearm and having no hunting license.
Capt. Robert McCullough, from the Department of Natural Resources, told the Index-Journal that Brickweg was in the stand when he heard something and fired.
"He waited and didn't see anyone or didn't hear anything else. About 10 minutes later, he got down and went over and found his buddy was lying there," said McCullough.
Fox Carolina reports that two of Iselin's brothers, who were also on the trip, have confirmed to cops that the shooting was an accident.
Brickweg, of Satellite Beach, Fla., has been charged with criminal use of a firearm and having no hunting license.
What a pig!
Wait! Man Pig?
Or sleeping with his friends wife?
I guess he was boaring/boring.
I have numerous friends who are bores. Crashing bores. Insufferable bores. Even wild bores.
But I never shot one.
He should have known that human hunting season ended last month.
I mean, is this not the ultimate case of adding insult to injury?
Bad enough he got shot to death, but he was shot to death because someone thought he was a boar.
No anti-gun bias in that verbiage, no sir! /s
He's out hunting with others and fired because he "heard some rustling? What an idiot.
Did you ever buy one a shot?
No hunting license? Shooting at a noise in the brush?
And I am sure no training. Gross incompetence, from the looks of it and one more idiot giving gun owners and hunters a bad name.
LOL!
What a confusing post.
Hold mah beer, I hear rustling.
Yes. It seldom helped.
You don’t aim a gun with your ears!
I didn’t write the article, I just posted it.
“Brickweg, some distance away, was climbing into a hunting stand when he heard some rustling.
Firing a single shot, he thought he’d taken out a wild boar.”
So he fired at “some rustling”. Then thought he’d taken out a wild boar. In other words he did not SEE what he was shooting at. He had no hunting license either.
Throw the idiot in jail for manslaughter.
Firing at a movement or a noise without being absolutely certain of what you are shooting at constitutes disregard for the safety of others. No target is so important that you cannot take the time before you pull the trigger to be absolutely certain of your target and where your shot will stop.
