I am on an AT&T Go Phone service with a pre-SmartPhone Motorola RAZR. I switched to the $2.00/day plan which comes with a catch - it is $2.00 per day but only on the days you actually place or receive a call. Once you do make/receive a call, all the rest of the calls that day are free. For recluses, that’s a nice deal.

Since it has a caller ID, ignore any calls you don’t recognize. If they go to voice mail, choose to play them back on a day you were planning to use the phone anyway.

In my case, the $25 refill lasts me approx. one month which is considerably less than most calling plans. I stay away from texting and web access unless I absolutely need to.

Splended suggestions abound from the Hoof,
Who knows to keep pennies way under the roof.
Tell me dear fellow not tender of foot,
Can one stretch the refill beyond one month root?
