(FASHION DESIGNER) Westwood: First lady's clothes are 'dreadful'
politico.com ^ | 3/7/13 | CAITLIN MCDEVITT

(Reuters) Designer Vivienne Westwood does not approve of first lady Michelle Obama’s wardrobe, she told The New York Times (linked):

Q. You must love our first lady, who is famous for recycling her clothes.

A. Don’t talk about her. It’s dreadful what she wears.

Q. What?

A. I don’t want to talk about it. Really, I can’t. She’s a very nice looking lady, but it’s a nonstarter regarding clothes that suit her. Jackie Kennedy was a different matter altogether. It just has to suit her and be something that makes a human being more glamorous. That’s what fashion is there for. It’s there to help, not just to make you look more conservative.

The most amusing part of all this is the lead in question. Note how the NYT reporter just assumes that Westwood “must love our first lady.” The fawning sycophants at the NYT can’t imagine that anyone would do anything other than praise the first lady in an interview.

Laura Bush in her plainer wardrobe looked (and still looks) MUCH better than Michelle obama in her designer clothes.

The reason why—Laura Bush is a LADY!!!!

Good point....although I do think the reporter was baiting Westwood, as well.

Personally, it's not how Mrs. 0bama looks, it is how the media attempts to force us to believe that she's a brilliant, super-model athlete

Right up there North Korea's adoration of their "Dear Leader".

I have always thought Moochelle’s first inaugural gown was designed as a wedding gown for a summer garden wedding. It was not appropraite attire for a winter ball.

SHE BOMBED IN HOLLYWOOD Hollywood came down hard on Mrs O's scary Oscar visibility. She was roundly criticized from the left and the right. Those in the seats say Hollywood heaved a collective groan when she appeared via satellite above Jack Nicholson.

Post-Oscar reports did not picture her or her dress. Even though another star wore a dress by the same designer---no mention was made of Mrs O's lavish gown.

DEMOCRATS LIKE DONNY DEUTSCH WEIGHED IN: "As far as I'm concerned, she was an uninvited guest. Now what I mean by that is (as an advert guru), you have to give the consumer, the viewer, the ultimate respect. They tuned in to watch movie stars, to watch movies. And all of a sudden, politics is thrown at them."

"If I want to watch her on Jimmy Fallon, that's okay. But, (the Awards)---that was an intrusion, and I have a feeling that three out of four Americans -- Democrat or Republican -- don't want to see the First Lady (there). I think you have to respect your audience enough to not impose her, that's not a moment we're looking for there---the President or the First Lady," Deutsch said on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."

DONNY CONTINUED: "....the tone of it, it was almost a monarch quality.....an elitist flavor to it. I was watching and going, 'huh?' and I'm a Democrat," Deutsch told host Piers Morgan. "I just thought it was very very tone deaf and I was really surprised they did it," Deutsch concluded.

The Ohaha's have plans---- they're using the "Argentina Strategy." See themselves as Juan and Evita wanabes---with unlimited power---deploying military strongmen to keep the rabble in check---while duping the citizenry into thinking they are "humanitarians.

SOUND FAMILIAR? The Perons bankrupted Argentina, took savage, total power by confiscating money from the rich-----and letting Evita bestow the money on the poor, in numerous well-publicized "acts of charity."

Evita traveled around in luxurious designer fashions, furs and lavish jewels; she was infatuated w/ Hollywood. Reigning movie queen Lana Turner saw Evita adopt her look and hair styles---and was alarmed when her jewelry was confiscated so that Evita could get it copied.

As was pointed out on Mad Men, women in Kennedy’s days modeled their fashion after either Marilyn Monroe or Jackie Kennedy. No one is modeling themselves after Michelle. Not one single thing. Heck, people even liked Sarah Palin’s glasses after her debate, but with Mrs. Obama, nothing.

Agree. The designers accentuate the wrong body parts. If one hips are wide one doesn’t draw attention to them at her age.
