Sigh. I’m probably not pessimistic enough to qualify. I bet I’ll die young. Just my luck.

The masochist said to the sadist “Hit me!”
The sadist did nothing.
The masochist said “Do it again!”

I’ve learned there is a thin line between pessimism and realism. Often they are the same things, as far as anyone can tell. What I find pessimistic instead is an unrealistic view of the world, as if the real one isn’t good enough or something.

One can be pessimistic about the world and doings around them but be uplifted by their faith, family and friends to enjoy life nonetheless. I would think being a total, unbalanced pessimist would be a miserable existence and shorten life instead.

A pessimist is a person who has had to listen to too many optimists.

I am so pessimistic about the next 4 Obama years that I should live to be a hundred easily.

These kinds of stories are not to be trusted. Truth is more than likely this is all a ruse— a clever socialist plot to sway us to reject medical care and rip up roses and stomp them before anyone smells them instead.

Pessimistic people are happier.
Think about it. Optimistic people are only happy when things go the way they expect.
Ergo - I think it will be good -- it is good, therefore this affirms my disposition; therefore I am happy.
If things go bad, things go against my disposition and I feel bad about myself then I am sad Panda.
Pessimist -- I think it will be bad -- if it turns out good, I am doubly happy because I did not expect it.
If things go bad, I expected things to go bad and this affirms my disposition and I feel good about myself for being so smart. Winning move for me!
