Nineteen teenagers were arrested following a melee at a Chicago mall, leaving two injured, it was reported this weekend. The mall was also closed down for the remainder of the day.
The incident took place on Saturday at the Ford City Mall on the Southwest Side and involved dozens of teens, who were running and yelling through the mall, authorities told the Chicago Tribune.
The mall was closed down just a few minutes later, but outside, some 100 to 200 people were damaging vehicles in the parking lot, police said. A Chicago bus driver was injured and was taken to the hospital, while a kid was hurt, Chicago Fire Department Chief Joe Roccasalva told the paper.
The teens who were arrested were between the ages of 13 and 18, police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak told The Associated Press. The majority face a misdemeanor mob action charge, but a 16-year-old was charged with beating a security guard trying to flee the mall.
While outside, some of the teens climbed on top of the cars after the mall was closed down.
