As we all know the left is constantly crushing us with the use of language, and conservatives constantly get outflanked because they seem to be incapable of making an effective communication of our ideas.
Consequently, when it comes to tax arguments, the left is effective at generating class warfare because the "rich" do not pay enough.
I want to change the meme on that argument from one which resolves around money (which is easily demagogued) to one about labor and time. People who own their own businesses or who are salary rarely if ever work your standard 40 hour work week. If you are salary, every hour you work over the standard 40 is basically a reduction in your hourly compensation. As you get taxed the same regardless, basically the amount of hours you work for the obama phone lady increases for every hour you work above the "standard 40". As you move up the income ladder, and progressive taxation hits you, the amount of hours that you work for the obama phone lady also increases. If you add up all taxes, and figure that after everything you end up paying 50% of your compensation to the government, and say for example you average 60 hours a week on salary, you are being paid and taxed really on the standard 40, so it would imply that you worked 20 hours that week for the obama phone lady and 20 hours for your own family. But you actually worked 20 more hours than the standard 40 so in actuality it can be argued that you were forced to work 40 hours specifically to support the obama phone lady, while 20 of your hours were worked for your own family.
So instead of arguing about dollar amounts where the democrats can pull on emotions about greed and class warfare, I propose framing the argument about the amount of time that more successful are forced to spend to not only support those who contribute nothing of value to society, but also support them in luxuries that many people in the middle class can ill afford for their own families.
The question to ask is how much of my time and labor do you feel you have a right to?
Almost everyone in America now pays at least half of what they make in fees/taxes/assessments/licenses/tolls/state taxes etc.
What liberals fail to be attacked on is the fact that the nanny state cannot and will not lift up the millions who need it. Every city has despondent people, mostly male, moping around, stuck living in some crap hole with no prospects of a decent future. Most are not capable of gaming the system to be what they aspire to be, which is affluent. The only real shot at that is for the economy to be booming, and that will not happen under owebama.
Please repeat and say often: BIG GREEDY GOVT.
That’s why I don’t speak of inner city blacks as culprits. I speak of them as victims of the democrat party. They were lured into a nearly inescapable trap.
Ben Carson is a great example of what can be achieved but it has to start in the home.
Yep. Take it right to the American People. Maybe use Bill Boards as a medium.
While I applaud you for making the attempt, the Rats simply tap into the basic sins of envy, greed, and covetessness. In this day, you are trying to swim up the Niagara Falls.
Nice!
I don’t make much off of it but what I do make ends up back here at FR.
Spot on. I see minorities of every stripe that have inescapeable look of hopelessness on their faces. Which isn't to say its ONLY minorities. Obama and the left have doomed many of us to scrapping by until the next conservative comes along, which may never happen. Oh well!
I’m seeing a lot of urban white kids stumbling into a really bad place as well.
My idiot niece is about to lose her 2 toddlers because she’s a self centered moron who is too busy partying on the taxpayer dollar to watch her kids.
In addition, I have been in the corporate world and made corporate money.
60 hours is not nearly enough. On some occasions I would spend the night in the office and that includes some weekends.
With the hours, pressure and responsibility I earned every bit of the money that I made.
That is why I do not begrudge some of the salaries of some executives that are ‘advertised’ by the MSM.
Something along those lines should be included in your ‘thesis’.
Its also important to note that a lot of conservatives are being driven to welfare and food stamps as well. I know that if I had a family that’s exactly where I would be.
Where I live wages are higher outside the county but the cost of living is higher which means driving 50 or 60 miles per day on $4 gas for 9 to 12 bucks an hour. A friend at the farmer’s market says you can spot them because they aren’t buying crap, they’re buying in bulk and bargain shopping with food stamps.
It’s greedy for me to want to keep what I worked to earn, but not greedy for the government to want to take it away from me for their own use - Obama’s obsessed with punishing the successful and economically well off - the rich don’t just pay their fair share; when the top two percent of earners pay over forty percent of the taxes, they’re paying much more than their fair share - - - there’s lots of ammunition, just nobody with enough energy and bravery to deliver it......
