Oh, and I forgot to mention—that particular classroom had no windows in the doors, as is legally required. AND, there are absolutely NO security guards strolling that particular stretch of the hall. It’s a half-flight of stairs down from the main hall and security was NEVER EVER seen in that section. That’s why dozens of “students” were always hanging out there, even bouncing a basketball down the hall, with total impunity. Additionally, when I tried to call for assistance in the classroom after the DVD had been vandalized, NO ONE ANSWERED. I even heard one extension being hung up every time I called. I could have been grievously injured behind that closed door in that isolated hallway, and none be the wiser.

Seriously, Ein, your very life isn’t worth a paycheck. The kids in that ‘school’ have already gone full-blown feral, and will never respond to your efforts to assist them. Get out now, before one of them decides to hurt you for ‘dissing’ them.
From stories I’ve heard from other teachers, yours is a fairly good city school.
The kids would be better off running wild. At least some of them might work, at some point. Survival tends to focus the mind.
Sitting in a building doing nothing is about the worst thing you can do to a child.
