Facebook didn't pay any federal or state income taxes last year and will receive a hefty tax refund, according to a recent report.
How did the social network manage to swing such a nice tax break?

What Facebook did is not unusual, unethical or illegal especially for startups and companies going public for the first time as the tax code allows for carryover losses in previous years to be applied against future earnings. BTW, individuals can claim carry over losses too.
And it should also be noted that Citizens for Tax Justice is a leftist org that among other things believes in Requiring the wealthy to pay their fair share, adequately funding important government services and taxation that minimizes distortion of economic markets
