Seriously? What can a kid do, other than find and use the defenses prisoners use in prison: Form a protection gang ( clique), or be prepared to bloody the perp.

Seriously? Are you that pathetic? This is a lesson that EVERY child must learn. EVERY child gets picked on. Too tall, too short, too fat, too skinny, too loud, too quiet, too rich, too poor, too black, too white, too whatever. All kids of ALL cultures and ALL races, throughout ALL time have been bullied at some point and in some way. It is a rite of passage to figure out the lesson: how to make someone stop who gets pleasure out of annoying / hurting / dominating / insulting you. The usual solutions include (depending on the type of bullying):
showing that is no longer bothers you (so it no longer gives them pleasure, so they move on to the next one),
getting into a physical confrontation (you may very well lose, but if you inflict enough damage to make it no longer worthwhile... or if you gain a bit of respect... it stops),
getting / making friends to make it a numbers game,
give better insults that you get,
some opt for joining the bullies, and insulting themselves (which makes for self-esteem issues later on, but it is a relatively common and somewhat viable tactic)...
there are almost as many solutions as there are bullies. Pick your top ten, try each, and see what works best. If none do, try the next ten.

One-on-one therapy, Presidential PSAs, talks with the principal or the parents, and other moronic nanny-interventions don't work. Never have, in any culture, in any period of history. Never will. The point is to learn to defend yourself, or else be attacked forever. Hell, this is part of the animal kingdom. It's not just HUMAN nature that features it. The runr of the litter is not well treated. Figure out a way to best the bullies, or avoid being a fun victim... or else have limp-wristed parents fret over "what to do" on public forum boards.

Welcome to mammal-hood. Life takes effort, and an interest in self-preservation.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

No. It isn't a rite of passage for homeschoolers.

It just seem normal because our citizens have forgotten ( its’ taken five or six generations) that brick and mortar, Prussian-model, and prison-like SCHOOL IS NOT NORMAL.

Over 150,000 years of human ancestors would be ***APPALLED** at how we treat children. Homeschoolers are proving every day, for decades now, that children learn best in the company of caring ADULTS. These are adults who are there to model and teach rational and humane ways to handle the conflict that happens in everyone’s life without beating another person to a pulp or allowing bullies to bloody them.

When compulsory government schooling was first introduced in our nation some states had to call out the militia to enforce the law. The citizens who objected were right and we are now seeing why they were right. We have a nation of citizens who just voted in the most socialist president ( fascist and Marxist even) in the history of our nation!

If we treat children like prisoners in our socialist and government owned and run indoctrination centers we will get a nation of citizens that is comfortable being socialist prisoners of the government!

Personally, I WILL NOT HAVE A GOVERNMENT SCHOOL TEACHER FOR A FRIEND. Yes! I consider government schooling to be **that** evil.

Teacher 317,

You have just described “Lord of the Flies” and prison life.

No, my adult life is not about constantly strategizing about defending myself, worrying about bloodying someone’s nose, being bloodied by them, or hiding in a corner worrying about being the “first victim”.

This is PRISON LIFE, ( not real world of adult living) that you are describing.
