Some farmers put “glasses” on them to keep them from pecking each others’ eyes out.

It’s easier to simply de-beak them. The process is simple.
After they hatch, you press the upper beak against a red hotplate and burn off maybe 3/32 of the beak. The chick is then put in a box and you can see it immediately scratch at the burn for maybe 1 second, then they go on their way as if nothing had happened.
They need to be fed crumbled feed then as they cannot forage as they do not have the sharp upper beak to pick up seeds from the ground.
They can still peck at each other but do not inflict injury on each other.
Anyone who has seen a chicken with the back of it’s head or the back just above the tail torn open and a bloody mess will understand the purpose of de-beaking.
