Why are they even having the Superbowl in New Jersey?

The 2015 Superbowl was supposed to be in Kansas City...but with the condition that the public pay to renovate the stadium....and put a roof on it.

The taxpayers voted for the renovation, but not the roof.

And the NFL said ‘Take a hike’...and the 2015 Superbowl will be in Arizona.

Sooooo....why on earth is KC too cold, but its ok to play in Jersey?

BTW - Metlife was originally planned for a roof, too...but couldn’t fund it.

Most folks who go to the SB are high rollers. For better or worse they want to go to places like NYC. They don’t want to go to KC. They graciously “allowed” us to have one in Indianapolis last year only because the taxpayers coughed up an outrageous sum (700mil +) for a new NFL palace AND give all the revenue from non NFL events to the NFL team also.

“Why are they even having the Superbowl in New Jersey?”

They were promised one in 2001 after the World Trade Center attacks. New Orleans was the host that year, and the NFL delayed their season one week after the attacks. Therefore, the whole season was delayed. The NFL needed New Orleans to reschedule. At first, New Orleans already had another event that weekend, I forget what, it may have been an RV show or something. So the NFL said, well we will have another site have it, and offered it to NYC, New Orleans came around and rescheduled the conflicting event. The NFL promised NY/NJ they will host a Super Bowl in the “near future”.
