WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. government and Mexican tomato growers reached a tentative agreement on Saturday that reduces the threat of a costly trade war stemming from a U.S. decision last year to pull out of a 1996 bilateral tomato trade pact.
"I am pleased that we were able to come to an agreement on fresh tomato imports from Mexico that restores stability and confidence to the U.S. tomato market and meets the requirements of U.S. law,"ÂÂ U.S. Commerce Under Secretary for International Trade Francisco Sanchez said in a statement.

I grow my own. I'm not interested in eating fresh tomatoes grown in fields with no sanitation for the workers.

A joke from California Central Valley.
- Why do Mexicans drive low-riders?
- So they can pick tomatoes without getting out of their cars.

The tomato seeds are sprouting in their little pots and the garden has been tilled. I’ve more than doubled the number of tomato plants for this year’s garden.
The not so funny comedian, George Lopez, once did a show in San Antonio for HBO. The entire hour was devoted to Mexican illegal pride and down with gringos. One skit was migrants workers, aka illegals, wiping vegetables on their butts. It was so digusting that his shows are now banned in this house.

I check labels and will not buy anything not grown here.

More than enough tomatoes can be grown in the USA. But go on ahead with such trade. We can have currency wars instead. And the dollar will fall very far. The communistic, anti-American currency manipulations won’t go on without the coming consequences. Oil will go up, too.

Absolutely..Ya have to be really crazy or just plain stooopid to eat stuff from Mexico or from places like Communist China.
My wife will not buy anything we consume, unless it's labeled and says it's grown right here in the U.S.
If we can't get it here, or grow our own, we don't want it or need it.

The United States Constitution, Article I, Section 8: The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;...To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations,...
The Tariff Act of 1789 was the first national source of revenue for the newly formed United States.
Tariffs are better than government-connected bosses accusing American veterans of being commies by requiring them to swear in writing that they're not commies (production shops, decades ago), then making deals with foreign communist nations to destroy the USA while promoting big government unions and anti-family, anti-American NGOs for their daughters.
Government-linked, global interests have also sent their relatives, former employees and other emissaries to local commissioners' meetings to outlaw new, small manufacturing shops while promoting radical environmentalism and animal worship to further regulate against prosperity in our country.

a U.S. decision last year to pull out of a 1996 bilateral tomato trade pactOh, my nerves. A "bilateral tomato trade pact"?
Some will, no doubt, call this another example of failed free trade policies and invoke the evil NAFTA. But this isn't free trade.
It's "managed" trade and we are the victims.
It's time our government stopped "protecting" us and let us alone to conduct our lives as we wish.

When they repatriate THEIR citizens, and the ruling class here, secures the border, I might reconsider.
But, probably not, on all counts.
