I grew up in Stillwater, and my dad taught at OSU. Back then, you had four choices: football, baseball, basketball or wrestling. That was it. Wrestling was huge, and there was nothing like going to an OSU match, especially if OU or ISU were in town. It was crazy, and I remember as a young boy absolutely loving the sport and the rabid crowds.
Our youth wrestling program was sponsored by OSU, and many members of the team earned extra money coaching us. We moved to NJ some time later, another great wrestling state, and I was far ahead of the competition in skills thanks to the coaching by those OSU NCAA champions and All Americans.
Thanks for the heads up. I ran video for my son’s varsity HS team for 4 years. It’s taken me a while, but I’m just starting to enjoy watching the college level.
Agree on the bonus points. I think this will be very close though. Exciting and close.
Thanks;
You know a meet is going to be great when it starts at 125 w/ a rematch of the national championship last year.
1-1 in the 3rd - heading for overtime.
Good meet. Tough loss at 125, but McDonough is just a stud.
The two close matches and 157 and 174 that reversed in the last 30 seconds were obviously huge.
I was disappointed in the PSU horses. No falls and not enough points. Other than Taylor, only Nico seemed to show up. The Altons haven’t wrestled much in a month and it showed.
It is a tough place to go to. 15,000 I guess can change things.
PSU would win this at home and I still think is the favorite to win the ncaa’s.
