The Israeli army also has 7.62NATO rifles and sniper rifles.

I think the attitude is, if the guy is past 300 yards, let the sniper/marksman or mortar crew deal with him.

I trained at Ft Gordon GA in 1967 with the 7.62 M-14. Now that was a rifle.
