That’s the surest way to lose a solid foundation - to ignore the bottom...

My nickel as a bass player anyhow.

I’ve been in several bands like this and they’ve all driven me away. Funny thing is... people keep asking me to come back and play music with them after they drive me away like that.

As a player I try not to ask for too much; just that the band members put effort into the music, that the selection not be mind numbingly boring, that there’s some semblance of variety, plus some musicianship being involved in the selections sure goes a long way towards overall enjoyment of any given band situation.

Here’s my nickle.

I’m in a two guitar band.
Example, the bass player and the drummer wanted to do
Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson and Surfing with the Alien
by Joe Satriani, to give the singer a couple of breaks.
After working on these songs for two weeks solid, the other
guitar player and I had it down. These are not easy songs.
Guess who hadn’t even touched these songs.
I’m just ticked at my bass player and drummer right now
but I know what your saying.
Oh yea, now that we pulled those songs off the singer wants to do Kid Ego by Extreme and A little aint enough by David Lee Roth. It never ends.
