The sports media crowd has moved on and found other sports to pump up. I think major-league hockey will go into a new era where half the teams fail within eighteen months...with little interest from the public. The players really screwed up this time on the strike.
Canada will maintain interest. CFL and NBA don't do it for them. Old teams in hockey towns (Bruins, Blackhawks, Red Wings, Rangers, Flyers) will come back. Teams in huge cities will get by (Kings, Avalanche). Not so sure about Carolina etc.
It is ridiculous that the most important hockey of the year is played in June. There should be a 40 game season with two rounds of playoffs max and the cup no later than March 31. LOts of stupidity and greed on all sides.
