That Oz dude has always seemed kind of smarmy and gay.

I don’t know if anything he says is valid or not.

He just seems creepy-faggoty.

I’ve never heard of him before now but looking at his photo, I agree with you.

What I can’t understand is how Columbia University can fail to sanction him. Are there no ethical guidelines whatsoever for business enterprise associated with university tenure? Is he donating a bunch of money back to the school?

Guess swarmy may be in the eye of the beholder, but if you've seen pictures of his wife and 4 kids you may rethink the "gay" part. BTW he's a cardiologist

lots of what he says is valid. he’s at least looking at alternative options than just big pharma. and he is married. i think you’re just reacting to his ethnic looks and mistaking them for something else. gotta retune your gaydar.w

I’ve seen this Dr. Oz a grand total of once on television. I’ve worked with herbals and nutraceutical companies in a marketing capacity, having done catalogs and website content for a few very recognizable ones.

I’ll say that there is some genuine benefit to many herbal nostrums, herbal anti-inflammatories and antimicrobials in particular. But, this basically unflashy benefit gets spun into some sort of panacea when it really isn’t, routinely.

I know showmanship when I see it, and I know quite well how to write sales copy in order to legally avoid FDA scrutiny. Structure/function. Always with the qualifiers. May. Helps with. That sort of thing. Sounds very persuasive if you’re wanting to be persuaded, and people with a particular nagging problem, persistent condition or even terminal diagnosis are really looking hard for something to latch onto. Women in particular.

Dr. Oz was going on about people claiming he’d endorsed certain products when in fact he doesn’t. The “as seen on Dr. Oz” rack danglers do not imply that he endorsed that particular marketer or manufacturer, but it does mean that he has advocated the use of that particular nostrum.

Use of a carefully cultivated, famous name for an implied if not actual endorsement is not free, I can also tell you that from the same professional exposure.

He’s in my opinion a salesman first and foremost. Draw your own conclusions.
