A Spring Hill woman faces a charge of abuse after a 9-year-old child ate a piece of crack under her care, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
Kimberly Losurdo, 45, of 11233 Riddle Drive, is charged with child abuse. She is in the Hernando County Detention Center with her bond set at $5,000.
About 1:30 a.m. today, Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to a residence in Spring Hill in reference to a 9-year old child who was having convulsions and losing consciousness, the sheriff's office said.
The child was taken to a local hospital where blood tests found cocaine in the child's system, the sheriff's office said. The child was then taken out of county for advanced care and hospital staff called the Department of Children and Families.
At the hospital, the child told detectives that they had seen someone in the home, later identified as Losurdo, smoking, snorting and ingesting drugs, the sheriff's office said.
The child said an "irregular shaped, rock like" substance was found in the bathroom and they ate it on Christmas, the sheriff's office said. Soon after, they became ill and started vomiting and deteriorating slowly.
Losurdo told detectives the child had been at the residence for five to seven days. She also admitted she smokes crack there and that the child must have found a piece and ate it, thinking it was candy or a pill, the sheriff's office said.
She said the child began vomiting two days ago and had flu-like symptoms, the sheriff's office said. She called emergency services today when the child began having seizures.
A crack pipe was found during a search of the house, the sheriff's office said.
DCF removed three children — ages 9, 11, and 16 — from the home, according to the sheriff's office. The child in question is expected to make a full recovery.

That said, hope the nine year old is okay.
She is much more responsible and slightly more alive than the woman in Connecticut that provided her insane son access to her firearms so he could murder a classroom full of 6 year old kids.

Speaking of 9 year olds, we just had a 26 year old mother (with several other children besides this one) who stabbed her 9 year old daughter to death yesterday in Detroit.
I’d say that you are not long for FR. Just my opinion. Best of luck to you.
She didn't "provide him access to her firearms", he murdered and then robbed her. When you murder your mother, do let us know how irresponsible she was to allow you rob her after she was dead.
