Not if you have a lot of expensive furniture.

I had one male cat declawed at my mother's rquest. Then, years later, I adopted an older female cat who had already been declawed.

The male cat didn't get paranoid because of being declawed, but that older female cat was paranoid.

I will never, ever have another cat declawed, nor will I adopt one hwo has already been declawed. I know it's convenient for the owner and the furniture, but I have come to believe it's cruel to the cat,

I have six furbabies now, ranging from the age of 11-1/2 years down to two 5-month-old kittens. They will all be keeping their claws. We don't have much claw-able furniture to speak of, but they are all pretty good about using the scratching posts and cat tree.

Anyway, other needy cats will find you and give your daughter joy in her time of grief.
